Maui Jim is an American company based in Illinois. The name clearly refers to the original parent company founded in the Hawaiian Islands. It all began in 1987 as a small business, selling sunglasses on Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, on the island of Maui.

Maui Jim’s polarized lenses quickly achieved enormous success. Over the years, the positive response from customers has been so strong that today Maui Jim is one of the world’s leading brands specializing in polarized lenses.

Today, the company also manufactures prescription lenses and holds several exclusive patents, such as PolarizedPlus® technology, designed to reduce intense glare and harmful UV rays while enhancing vibrant colors. Maui Jim is now distributed worldwide and is one of the most highly regarded brands in the industry. In 2023, ownership of the brand was transferred to the Kering Group.
