Masunaga is one of the oldest eyewear companies in the world. It was born in 1905 in Fukui, Japan. Its founder, Gazaemon Masunaga, selected the best craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo with the ambition of creating the first center of excellence in Japanese eyewear production.
In its early days, the company produced eyewear for the Japanese Imperial Family; today it is present in the finest optical stores around the world. More than 200 manual production processes are required to create a single Masunaga frame.
Everything is carried out within a single company, from raw materials to the finishing of each individual frame, entirely in-house, and it is the only company in the world that can boast such a production model. This ensures integrated quality control throughout every stage of the manufacturing process. The result is a product of true excellence, crafted with the highest-quality materials: Japanese celluloid sheets, Japanese titanium, and crystal lenses.
“We do not necessarily have to pursue profits; it will be the perfection of the objects we produce that will make us wealthy.” After more than a century, the company’s philosophy has not changed, and the results speak for themselves. This is Masunaga.
